James Walton (Jim) is originally from Fort Worth, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1991. Mr. Walton earned his Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2000. His areas of practice include patents, trademarks, copyrights, and corporate law.

Mr. Walton is a registered Patent Attorney. He was admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2000. He has been a member of the Texas Bar since 2001. His other bar admissions include the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Tarrant County Bar Association.
